– Degenerative Disc Disorder‎

Since beginning Medical Marijuana my life has improved so very much! It has lessened my pain and my anxiety/panic attacks have virtually disappeared! Also, it used to take me 2-3 hours at night to fall asleep because my mind would just be on overload... now I can take a couple of hits with my vapor pen and actually RELAX enough to fall asleep within 30-45 minutes... BIG CHANGE for me in that area! I take a very LOW dose with only 1% THC..it took a couple of tries to get my "cocktail" right as I absolutely HATED that paranoia feeling but with the low dose of the THC I would recommend MM to anyone with severe pain, anxiety, sleep disorders, nausea, you name it, it HELPS. If you can relax your body and mind that helps a tremendous amount with virtually anything that impairs your life. Dr. Dorn is a very caring and personable man... you are not just another person on paper to him. He genuinely cares about his patients and his office staff are quick and efficient. No matter how you feel about "pot" the Medical Marijuana is not a "high" it helps with everything!

– Severe and Chronic Pain

Medical marijuana gave me my life back. I developed neurological atypical facial pain in September 2016. Two neurologists had no idea what was wrong with me, but a third diagnosed my condition. My excruciating pain is bilateral and moves all over my face. No medication that the neurologist has prescribed has helped and has only given me severe side effects. I decided to try medical marijuana. Dr. Dorn was kind, helpful, understanding, and sympathetic. I didn't expect to get any relief, but I was astounded that only a small dosage took the pain away for 2 to 8 hours or more. I can make plans again, work again, enjoy life again, all because of medical marijuana. It saved my life.

– Arthritis, insomnia, chronic pain
– Previously treated with a nonbenzodiazepine sleep medication

Chronic arthritis and insomnia have plagued me for decades. In addition, 2 joint replacement surgeries last year resulted in even more pain and sleeplessness. Although offered [a nonbenzodiazepine sleep medication] by my doctor, I hated taking it due to the side effects, let alone the threat of addition to this dangerous drug. Thanks to a medical marijuana prescription, I have achieved a consistent sleep pattern and pain management, without the risk of traditional medications. This should be an option for Americans in every state, and not held up due to lobbyists for large pharmaceuticals. I'm convinced there is no better, AND SAFER, option for me to live a comfortable and pain free life.

– Previously treated with debilitating anxiety medications

When I was approved for Medical Marijuana, my anxiety had gotten so bad I was vomiting at times and I went up on anxiety medicines, which was bad for me and I could not drive. With Cannabis and a doctors recommendation I was able to go to a lower dose, and realize the pharmaceuticals were too high of a dose for me to be able to work and function normally. I am able to work more again have a second part time job now and feel like I am getting my life back. Driving again fine not when using of course. The doctors are great at MMTC and the cannabis pharmacies I have tried have all been excellent.

– Cancer
– Previously treated with chemotherapy, a nonbenzodiazepine sleep medication

I have stage 4 breast cancer and receive monthly chemotherapy to keep it stable. I used medical cannabis oils as an “alternative” additional therapy to [cytotoxic chemotherapy medications] and to feel better. My Oncologist is aware of it and doesn’t discourage me.

I use the Indica 9lb hammer strain to help me sleep post-chemotherapy because the steroids given to me as part of the IV drip make it very hard to sleep for several days. The Indica strain is perfect for helping me to sleep through the night. I tried [a nonbenzodiazepine sleep medication], but did not like it. I also ingest a rice grain size dose of the Sativa oils for more energy and to help me with general body aches and pains which are a harsh side effect of the chemotherapy. On my bad days, the oils and the vaping help with my pain, nausea, and appetite.

I am miserable after my roughly once a week chemotherapy. The medicinal cannabis helps me feel better than I would feel without it. I am also hoping that the cannabis helps kill more cancer cells in conjunction with [cytotoxic chemotherapy medications]. I have read so many testimonials on cancer sites that folks are having similar positive experiences with cannabis.

I truly believe it should be recreationally legal as well. I don’t see cannabis as a “party drug” at all anymore. Cannabis relaxes you and calms you down if you are anxious, or at least that is what I experience with using it.

I am still working full time as a Fiscal Manager and using cannabis has not affected my ability to work as a professional. I only use the tincture drops mid-day as part of my alternative cancer-fighting protocol. The tincture I use does not create a euphoric effect in any way. I am at home when using cannabis most of the time and I am definitely smart enough not to drive “baked” as the FHP PSAs warn about. Dr. Dorn and his staff have been wonderful to me and I am very satisfied with MMTC’s Tallahassee location.

– Back Pain, Sciatica, Depression, Anxiety, Panic disorder, Insomnia
– Previously treated with opioids, benzos, antidepressants

After 5 months of cannabis treatment I am so happy to report the I no longer take any prescription medications for my conditions which are sciatica, major depression, general anxiety disorder with panic attacks and insomnia.
In the past I had a medication for each of those conditions that had bad side effects and addiction problems from the opiates to the benzos as well as the anti-depressants causing mania. After dealing with some of these for 20+ years it is AWESOME to have these conditions finally under some control that seems reasonable. Frankly, I haven’t had a quality of life this good in a very long time. Sansha was great to me at the Summerfield location and God bless you all at MMTC.

– Degenerative Disc Disorder‎

I am a young active person who has lost my life to a back injury. It has been 2 years since I've been able to do anything like going shopping. For 2 years I tried everything but back surgery to fix it. After several doctors and a lot of money spent I ended up at the MMTC. Just within a month I have gotten my life back a little by every day. I actually feel good and have the energy to get out of the house. I needed something for the pain and energy. I still have pain but its not near as bad. I just started CBD it's been a week and I can already tell a difference in my energy levels. I also started vape which helps with energy and relaxing. I can not say better things about this I wish this was open worldwide. Thank you for bringing my life back!

I could have drunk alcohol heavily, that usually helps, but that wasn't an option for me for obvious reasons. And I also have pretty bad back, which continued to get worse from being a nurse. I have suffered terribly with post-herpetic neuropathy (after-shingles nerve damage), causing pain at night that is easily a 9/10 on a scale of 10, plus severe arthritis, back and leg pain. Since taking CBD tincture for two months, I have NO shingles pain during the night and, for the first time in almost 5 years, I’m getting a full night’s sleep! I also have days where I feel better all over than I have in the past 20 years! I find the results miraculous and the answer to a prayer. My quality of life has totally changed for the good.

Pain kept me awake at night. I seldom got a full night’s sleep. My doctor gave me a prescription drug and it helped but when I wanted to stop using it I found I had to detox myself. The side effects for taking pill medication are as follow. [antidepressants]: nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, or stomach ache. Constipation or diarrhea. Loss of interest in sex (erectile dysfunction in men). [anti-anxiety medication]: sleep problems (insomnia), memory problems, poor balance or coordination. Slurred speech. [antipsychotic medication]: dry mouth, sore throat, stomach pain, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, constipation. Which all equals no life. With medical marijuana I do not have any of these side effects. I can have a life full of activities. I sleep better with no nightmares. It helps with my PTSD and anxiety.

– Previously treated with traditional pain medication

For the past three years I have been plagued with physical problems after leading a very healthy lifestyle with no problems at all. Diagnosed with cancer and three days later was told to have back surgery. In additions to that I was diagnosed with neuropathy in both legs. Saw several physicians and neurologists. The pain in my back and legs was excruciating. Tried all the mainstream medicine. ALL of them made me loopy and miserable. Tried medical marijuana and tried all sorts of combination thinking THC was the answer to my pain. Didn’t happen. Got very frustrated and as a last resort I tried a 40:1 combination, with CBD being the dominant ingredient. Instant relief for night time sleep. Still working a combination to use during the day without out making me sleepy. Pain never goes away completely but i can say the pain is down by about 30 to 40%.

I can’t give enough positive feedback for people in my [medical cannabis] experience. I’m not being treated solely for epilepsy, I am being treated for multiple conditions, from neuropathy to migraines, anxiety, and many others. My anxiety and all have been controlled since I started using cannabis. I was confined to my house at times due to the anxiety being so high that I couldn’t go out and function with society. Now due to a vape pen I go out anytime with my service animal. I thank God and these people for the help. I ask that you don’t jump to judgement, for when there comes a time that nothing works on your body or your mind any more, can you turn somewhere else? Somewhere positive. That somewhere was here! Thank you thank you thank you! I cannot recommend the vape pens enough if you deal with extreme pain or extreme anxiety. I cannot recommend these people enough. Give them a chance. What a prayer answered, thank you Jesus! Thank you to Dr. Dorn and all the people that work and deliver. God bless you all!

– Epilepsy

Dealing with Epilepsy can be hard and knowing that there is another route besides pills is great for me. If I feel that I may have a seizure coming on, I take C.B.D and it helps to stop my upcoming seizure. It can also help with the pain that I feel after I have a seizure. I put off getting my Medical Marijuana card for a while, but I am really glad that I ended up getting it.

Kathryn, 54

Kathryn, 54
Jacksonville Beach

– 5 months on medical cannabis
– PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Celiac Disease, chronic pain, sleeping problems
– Previously treated with traditional pain medication

I moved to Jacksonville, FL to get new start in life and the fact that the Mayo Clinic was close (I thought would be good for me), was a deciding factor to move.

I started going to the clinic in Jacksonville Beach and the staff there is so very helpful and really do want to help everyone that comes into their office. I wanted to get off prescription medication, as I have Celiac Disease and sleeping problems since I lost my spouse.

I have been using medical marijuana to combat PTSD and chronic pain. I was using prescription medicine in pill form, 4 times a day to manage my pain and 3 pills at night to manage my sleeping problems. But since taking medical marijuana, I am almost down to not taking any pills at all. This had been a great help to also manage the stress level and anxiety issues as well.

I have been sleeping better and feel more rested in the morning. Since starting medical marijuana, I am able to concentrate/focus more at work.

If you can qualify for medical marijuana, I think you should go the nearest MMTC and seek help and get information on what types of the medical marijuana is for you, as there are so many different forms and strands to help. I still haven’t found a strand that helps me eat more, but I’m still working on that and maybe in the next few months I will be able to eat more.

Medical marijuana had truly been a blessing for me, plus it is healthier on my organs and my blood work is better since I stopped taking the medicines for my pain and sleeping issues.

A really good plus is that the staff at the dispensaries are very helpful to get you the right medical marijuana for what you need.

The clinic was clean and tidy. The staff was extremely pleasant and open to explaining everything in the process. Severe osteoarthritis is the reason I have had a partial knee replacement, a total hip replacement and a lumbar laminectomy and fusion to relieve a pinched nerve. The nerve has not regenerated so I have neuropathy and drop foot in both feet. As a result I have pain in all three areas so I was taking an OTC pain reliever for relief. I didn’t feel that OTC pain relievers were a good long term solution so I started to search online for other options. Needless to say medical marijuana has worked very well for me and I have really cut back on the pain relievers.

I had been raised in a household where my father lost a son to drugs. We were told all about the the horrors of marijuana and I looked down on anyone that used it. Later in life I was diagnosed with PTSD, high blood pressure and severe vision loss related to stress. The doctor made some recommendations but nothing really seemed to be working and I had several recurrences which caused further retinal damage. Desperate, I decided to try cannabis oil recommended by my doctor. Relief was quick and long lasting. After a year of treatment, my blood pressure is lower, my stress level has decreased and despite having several relapses my condition has stabilized. Best of all the only medication I have had to take through all of this is cannabis! I feel very fortunate to live within the state of Florida and have access via MMTC. Thank you!
