– Severe and Chronic Pain

Medical marijuana gave me my life back. I developed neurological atypical facial pain in September 2016. Two neurologists had no idea what was wrong with me, but a third diagnosed my condition. My excruciating pain is bilateral and moves all over my face. No medication that the neurologist has prescribed has helped and has only given me severe side effects. I decided to try medical marijuana. Dr. Dorn was kind, helpful, understanding, and sympathetic. I didn’t expect to get any relief, but I was astounded that only a small dosage took the pain away for 2 to 8 hours or more. I can make plans again, work again, enjoy life again, all because of medical marijuana. It saved my life.

– Arthritis, insomnia, chronic pain
– Previously treated with oxycodone

Chronic arthritis and insomnia have plagued me for decades. In addition, 2 joint replacement surgeries last year resulted in even more pain and sleeplessness. Although offered oxycodone by my doctor, I hated taking it due to the side effects, let alone the threat of addition to this dangerous drug. Thanks to a medical marijuana prescription, I have achieved a consistent sleep pattern and pain management, without the risk of traditional medications. This should be an option for Americans in every state, and not held up due to lobbyists for large pharmaceuticals. I’m convinced there is no better, AND SAFER, option for me to live a comfortable and pain free life.

– Previously treated with debilitating anxiety medications

When I was approved for Medical Marijuana, my anxiety had gotten so bad I was vomiting at times and I went up on anxiety medicines, which was bad for me and I could not drive. With Cannabis and a doctors recommendation I was able to go to a lower dose, and realize the pharmaceuticals were too high of a dose for me to be able to work and function normally. I am able to work more again have a second part time job now and feel like I am getting my life back. Driving again fine not when using of course. The doctors are great at MMTC and the cannabis pharmacies I have tried have all been excellent.

– 8 months on medical cannabis
– Cancer
– Previously treated with Taxol, chemotherapy, Ambien

I have stage 4 breast cancer and receive monthly chemotherapy to keep it stable. I used medical cannabis oils as an “alternative” additional therapy to the Taxol and to feel better. My Oncologist is aware of it and doesn’t discourage me.

I use the Indica 9lb hammer strain to help me sleep post chemotherapy because the steroids given to me as part of the IV drip make it very hard to sleep for several days. The Indica strain is perfect for helping me to sleep through the night. I tried ambien, but did not like it. I also ingest a rice grain size dose of the Sativa oils for more energy and to help me with general body aches and pains which are a harsh side effect of the chemotherapy. On my bad days, the oils and the vaping help with my pain, nausea, and appetite.

I am miserable after my roughly once a week chemotherapy. The medicinal cannabis helps me feel better than I would feel without it. I am also hoping that the cannabis helps kill more cancer cells in conjunction with the Taxol. I have read so many testimonials on cancer sites that folks are having similar positive experiences with cannabis.

I truly believe it should be recreationally legal as well. I don’t see cannabis as a “party drug” at all anymore. Cannabis relaxes you and calms you down if you are anxious, or at least that is what I experience with using it.

I am still working full time as a Fiscal Manager and using cannabis has not affected my ability to work as a professional. I only use the tincture drops mid-day as part of my alternative cancer fighting protocol. The tincture I use does not create a euphoric effect in any way. I am at home when using cannabis most of the time and I am definitely smart enough not to drive “baked” as the FHP PSAs warn about. Dr. Dorn and his staff have been wonderful to me and I am very satisfied with MMTC’s Tallahassee location.

– Previously treated with opioids, benzos, antidepressants

After 5 months of cannabis treatment I am so happy to report the I no longer take any prescription medications for my conditions which are sciatica, major depression, general anxiety disorder with panic attacks and insomnia.
In the past I had a medication for each of those conditions that had bad side effects and addiction problems from the opiates to the benzos as well as the anti-depressants causing mania. After dealing with some of these for 20+ years it is AWESOME to have these conditions finally under some control that seems reasonable. Frankly, I haven’t had a quality of life this good in a very long time. Sansha was great to me at the Summerfield location and God bless you all at MMTC.

I am a young active person who has lost my life to a back injury. It has been 2 years since i’ve been able to do anything like going shopping. For 2 years i tried everything but back surgery to fix it. After several doctor’s and a lot of money spent i ended up at the MMTC. Just within a month i have gotten my life back a little by everyday. I actually feel good and have the energy to get out of the house. I needed something for the pain and energy. I still have pain but its not near as bad. I just started CBD oil it’s been a week and i can already tell a difference in my energy levels. I also started vape which helps with energy and relaxing. I can not say better things about this i wish this was open worldwide. Thank you for bringing my life back!

– 5 months on medical cannabis
– Neuropathy‎, blood disorder, panic disorder, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, diabetes
– Previously treated with opiates

I sought pain relief from opiates for more 12 years, per my neurologist. They were doing no good for my pain nor my health, more habit than relief. I have multiple disorders and am completely disabled, unable to work. I began to realize the pain killers were killing me, not the pain, and slowing me down.

I have long believed in the medical uses of marijuana. If only our state government and federal government would just stay out of it. I learned to listen to body and it tells me what works for what hurts, and pills only kill people, it only delays the pain and harms the body where natural herbal treatment has helped from day ONE! No side effects, I am still working on finding the right levels for me, but that will come in time, for now it is working better than any pill ever did.

I found it disheartening to have lost my younger brother in 2001 to opiates at his age of 31, after his abuse and overdose I began to wonder if Florida was ever going to see the truth of natural remedies for pain are much better and effective at controlling the pain. I haven’t ever heard of overdosing on pot. In my opinion it’s more than just good for pain, but does not affect the bodily functions as do many other drugs. It has only helped through and through, finally relief I can believe in.

Thank you. No more opiates. I have a blood disorder, panic disorder, osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. My day starts with pain and my activity is limited, yet I’m lucky to still be here, at least I’ve found something good in natural medicine rather than poppy seed derivatives or worse. I worked in field service for 16 years after five years of communications electronics working on the bench to component level design and test. I needed movement in my day! Now I’m lucky to to still be able to walk. I do have diabetes, and the neuropathy came from massive blood clot pulmonary, COPD, etc. Cannabis is certainly been the best treatment for my condition so far without a doubt.

I recently got my medical card and this has helped me tremendously. I finally feel like my old self again! I very rarely have back pain anymore and I was shocked to see how well this has worked for me. I also have been using it to treat my migraines as well as bad menstrual cramps. I am very happy to report that medical marijuana helps me manage those issues as well. Overall I am extremely happy and would recommend this to anyone who could benefit. It is truly an amazing medicine and I just hope enough people can open their eyes wide enough to see that.

Seroquel: dry mouth, sore throat, stomach pain, upset stomach, nausea, vomiting, constipation. Which all equals no life. With medical marijuana I do not have any of these side effects. For the past three years I have been plagued with physical problems after leading a very healthy lifestyle with no problems at all. Diagnosed with cancer and three days later was told to have back surgery. In additions to that I was diagnosed with neuropathy in both legs. Saw several physicians and neurologists. The pain in my back and legs was excruciating. Tried all the mainstream medicine. ALL of them made me loopy and miserable. Tried medical marijuana and tried all sorts of combination thinking THC was the answer to my pain. Didn’t happen. Got very frustrated and as a last resort I tried a 40:1 combination, with CBD being the dominant ingredient. Instant relief for night time sleep. Still working a combination to use during the day without out making me sleepy. Pain never goes away completely but i can say the pain is down by about 30 to 40%.

The medical marijuana has helped some. I’ve still been having seizures but have noticed when I use the product, it helps with my recovery time. I’ve had epilepsy for 20 years and have been on every medication made for seizures, have had brain surgery and a VNS, and still am having seizures. I use the nasal, drops, and vape. Although I’m not having near as many [seizures] as I was, I don’t understand why it hasn’t stopped them completely. I was hoping this would be my cure-all and it hasn’t been yet. On TV they would show parents giving their children drops of MM and they come right out of the seizure and back to normal. Maybe I am not doing it enough, I don’t know? Just wonder if there is anybody else still having seizures while on this.

Now due to a vape pen I go out anytime with my service animal. I thank God and these people for the help. I ask that you don’t jump to judgement, for when there comes a time that nothing works on your body or your mind any more, can you turn somewhere else? Somewhere positive. That somewhere was here! Thank you thank you thank you! I cannot recommend the vape pens enough if you deal with extreme pain or extreme anxiety. I cannot recommend these people enough. Give them a chance. What a prayer answered, thank you Jesus! Thank you to Dr. Dorn and all the people that work and deliver. God bless you all!

I am 63 years old and live in an apartment alone in rural Florida. I am unable to work because of migraines and seizures. I was on pharmaceuticals for the seizures and smoking marijuana. – PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), Celiac Disease, chronic pain, sleeping problems
– Previously treated with traditional pain medication

I moved to Jacksonville, FL to get new start in life and the fact that the Mayo Clinic was close (I thought would be good for me), was a deciding factor to move.

I started going to the clinic in Jacksonville Beach and the staff there is so very helpful and really do want to help everyone that comes into their office. I wanted to get off prescription medication, as I have Celiac Disease and sleeping problems since I lost my spouse.

I have been using medical marijuana to combat PTSD and chronic pain. I was using prescription medicine in pill form, 4 times a day to manage my pain and 3 pills at night to manage my sleeping problems. But since taking medical marijuana, I am almost down to not taking any pills at all. This had been a great help to also manage the stress level and anxiety issues as well.

I have been sleeping better and feel more rested in the morning. Since starting medical marijuana, I am able to concentrate/focus more at work.

If you can qualify for medical marijuana, I think you should go the nearest MMTC and seek help and get information on what types of the medical marijuana is for you, as there are so many different forms and strands to help. I still haven’t found a strand that helps me eat more, but I’m still working on that and maybe in the next few months I will be able to eat more.

Medical marijuana had truly been a blessing for me, plus it is healthier on my organs and my blood work is better since I stopped taking the medicines for my pain and sleeping issues.

A really good plus is that the staff at the dispensaries are very helpful to get you the right medical marijuana for what you need.

– Chronic Pain, TMJ
– Previously treated with Tylenol, Codeine, Vicodin, Neurontin

I have been self-employed as a freelance editor, proofreader, and translator (German/English) for many US publishers since Dec. 1985. I’ve been married for over 30 years, and my husband and I care for 10 cats and 2 dogs, all rescues and seniors, and most with special needs. We like to eat out and travel, and once I began to experience extreme, unending pain, we had to stop doing both. In Sept. 2016 I developed severe bilateral earaches. The stabbing, shooting, burning pain spread. My temples, around and under my eyes, my cheekbones, my mouth, my gums, my teeth, my jaw, in and behind my ears were affected.

I’d been diagnosed with TMJD, but the pain was far greater than that, moved all over my face, was bilateral. It felt as though ice picks were being shoved into my ears and as though knives were working themselves out from my gums. My cheekbones and the roof of my mouth were on fire. The pain traveled rapidly all over my face, in no particular order. Finally a neurologist at the Cleveland Clinic, Weston, FL, diagnosed me with atypical facial pain, a neurological condition that has no cure.

Previously, my dentist, oral surgeon, and pcp prescribed Tylenol plus codeine, a muscle relaxer, Vicodin; none even touched the pain. The neurologist prescribed Neurontin, which didn’t help the pain and left me in a fog. I only slept a few hours, then excruciating pain woke me, and I was awake for the rest of the night. I could barely work and thought I’d have to give up my business. I couldn’t even take my dog for walks. I couldn’t drive.

I decided to give medical marijuana a chance since drugs didn’t work and only left me in a fog and staggering about. I saw Dr. Dorn, who was wonderfully understanding, knowledgeable, and sympathetic. As soon as I got my MM card, I went to a Surterra dispensary. The employees were SO knowledgeable, helpful, and caring, and they helped me find a type of tincture oil and vape pen (Calm) that they thought might be of most use. MM gave me back my life.

When I am in pain, I take 0.5 ml tincture oil (Dr. Dorn started me on 0.1 ml and suggested I work my way up until I found a dosage that worked; he suggested 12.0 ml as the most I should take per day, and I’ve never had to take that much) and two 3-second puffs of the vape pen. The latter works quickly, within 10-15 minutes, and the tincture oil normally keeps me pain free for 4-7 hours or longer.

People worry about MM “getting them high” but it has never had that effect on me. I can do my work again–it requires lots of concentration–and perform activities of daily living without being in such agony that I can’t do anything. Because Surterra’s tincture oil is expensive ($260 per vial), I thought I’d try another dispensary, Trulieve. I purchased oil with the same ratio of CBD to THC (12.5:1) as the SurTerra oil for about $75. The employees weren’t knowledgeable or helpful, and I was unimpressed by them–and their oil did NOTHING for my pain, so I went back to Surterra immediately.

I am disgusted that MM is illegal in some states. I wish Congress had the guts to legalize it. Alcohol is an enormous danger; marijuana is not. To put marijuana in the same category of cocaine; to say it’s an “entry-level drug” is absurd. If it weren’t for Surterra products, I simply do not know what I would do. I know I wouldn’t be working, going out with my husband and friends, driving, leading a normal life. I carry my vape pen with me everywhere, in case I have breakthrough pain. I cannot begin to tell you how grateful I am to MM for giving me back my life.

When taking the medical cannabis drops, the pain is much less severe and I am able to tolerate the pain better. The drops also relax me and enable me to get more rest which lets me be more active.

– 1 year on medical cannabis
– PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder), high blood pressure

I had been raised in a household where my father lost a son to drugs. We were told all about the the horrors of marijuana and I looked down on anyone that used it. Later in life I was diagnosed with PTSD, high blood pressure and severe vision loss related to stress. The doctor made some recommendations but nothing really seemed to be working and I had several recurrences which caused further retinal damage. Desperate, I decided to try cannabis oil recommended by my doctor. Relief was quick and long lasting. After a year of treatment, my blood pressure is lower, my stress level has decreased and despite having several relapses my condition has stabilized. Best of all the only medication I have had to take through all of this is cannabis! I feel very fortunate to live within the state of Florida and have access via MMTC. Thank you!
